Saulius Vaitiekūnas

Saulius Vaitiekūnas is a recognizable, yet unpredictable artist whose work combines different forms of expression: small stone and metal sculpture, jewelry, monumental sculptural objects and conceptual installations. One of the main materials used by the artist is stone, which combines archaism and modernity.

S. Vaitiekūnas’ works are full of hints about the processes taking place in our society – the absurdity of politics, ecology, the challenges of emigration. Artist S. Vaitiekūnas is a participant in many exhibitions and art projects in Lithuania and abroad, his works are exhibited in galleries in Japan, Italy, Israel, Holland and other countries.

About gallery

“Terra recognita” is a constantly renewing space that has been in development for more than ten years, where the works of artist Saulius Vaitiekūnas are exhibited.

“terra recognita” means “recognized land”. The name and motto “real, simple, eternal” came from the artist’s love and respect for the stone. Works made of sea-polished stone, flint and silver are transformed here into “ritual items”, votives, clocks, buttons and other objects that decorate and speak to the human body and soul.

The exhibition is purposeful, restrained, aesthetically coherent. As a result, the gallery itself looks like an independent work of art. in 2015 The Vilnius gallery made it to the list of 10 must-see Vilnius galleries compiled by the London “Culture trip”.
