2008 / Saulius Vaitiekūnas

Overall space – 200 m.

Requiem to the orchestra is an installation, which speaks about the silence, coming from general inability to talk. This is the name of the piece, created to honor those who are no longer with us. It is also an attempt to understand the state of the mechanism – of the orchestra. It is yet another attempt to guess the message, which is written to you in “book of alterations” hexagram mixture. It is a provocation to think, to choose your place, your role in the roles of the “party” orchestra without losing hope to decontaminate all the tensions, worries…”

Created and built in 2008 (the year of election to Seimas) and listed half year before the world economic crisis, installation “requiem to the orchestra” had 141 seats – the exact number of members in Seimas. In this installation fragment – 28 seats of the bandsman, dedicated to the election to the EU, played by the current members of the EU.
